Two beneficiaries of Canossa Jeevan Vikas Kendra (CJVK), Mahakali, Andheri (E), could not finish their education because of early marriage and the family responsibilities that ensued. As part of the domestic workers group, they attended the Domestic Workers Advanced Skill Enhancement Program (DWASEP) conducted by the Centre of Social Action (CSA). Later, one of them also completed the Capacity Building Program conducted by the CSA.

The monthly input sessions of the DWASEP, mentoring and learning together with other members rekindled the desire in both these women to take up their academic studies once again. Without wasting any time, they initiated the process of higher education after a gap of 20 years.

One appeared for her Class X board exam and the other for Class XII through the Pune Board in March 2023 and successfully passed their respective exams. They have also completed the DWASEP and are determined to continue their academic pursuits and take specific professional courses that will help them and their families financially and socially.

Their success has motivated other women at CJVK to complete their studies and 5 women have shown their willingness to complete their studies.
