Samrudhi Savite a 20-year-old girl is a part of the Kishori group facilitated by Dev Kripa Mandal. She lives with her parents and four siblings and the financial situation of her family is not very good.  Samrudhi has been regularly attending the Kishori group meetings which are aimed at career guidance, personal hygiene, menstruation awareness etc.  She has been confused on which career to go for right from when she was in the 10th std.

Through DKM’s intervention, she was introduced to various vocational training courses that were being conducted by Kotak Mahindra Foundation at DKM’s premises. These courses are aimed at school dropouts and span over a period of two months with no fees charged to the trainees. The different courses include sales, retail, and computer training. After successfully completing the training, placements are also provided.

After completing the eleventh grade, Samrudhi could not proceed with her twelfth grade due to her financial condition. However, with guidance from DKM’s social worker, she got enrolled in the Computer and Retail Services course conducted by Kotak Unnati Foundation. After completing her course (Feb.2023) she got a job at Mumbai airport and now she is now financially independent.

Samrudhi now strives for a successful life while working to support her family financially and is also pursuing further studies.
