Candle Making
Two women beneficiaries from the domestic workers group from Pali were out of work because of the pandemic. With almost no support from their spouses they were finding it difficult to manage the mounting family expenses. While they had the knowledge of making candles, they had no money to buy the raw material. Centre for Social Action helped these two women with Rs. 5,000 each from which they purchased wax and made candles. Their determination and hard work have paid off and both of them have made a very decent profit from selling the candles. One woman has paid off her loans whereas the other has deposited the amount in the bank.
Flour Grinding
The CCO staff from Manori, approached Centre for Social Action (CSA) to support two women beneficiaries who were looking for an alternate means to livelihood. One was a daily wage earner, sorting fish and the other a fish seller. The seasonal nature of selling/sorting fish and the lockdown had adverse effect on their income. They both opted for setting up a flour grinding mill which would benefit both the beneficiaries as well as the villagers. CSA contributed Rs. 15,000 and Rs. 23,000 for the purchase of the equipment the balance amount of Rs. 4,500 and 3,500 was paid by the beneficiaries. The women are happy with the income and are grateful to CSA and the Centre.
