Halbudrukh Wadi is situated in Khopoli, Raigad District. The children from this village are neat, clean, and active in the village. As the village did not have a Balwadi, the Bal Sabha meetings used to take place either under a tree or in someone’s home. In one of the Bal Sabha meetings, the wadi prerika asked the children to identify the issues in the village and how they could collectively solve such issues.
The children identified that having no Balwadi was an issue in the village, so they decided to write an application. The wadi prerika guided the children and the 1st application was submitted to the Nagar Palika on 14th September 2022. They were assured that the work would start soon. Every month a follow-up was done by the women and children of the village asking for an update.
On 2nd January 2023, a few women, and the wadi prerika visited the nagar palika and stressed the importance of having a Balwadi as there were 27 children in the village out of which few were malnourished and these children did not have a place to hold their meetings or study and hence requested them to start a Balwadi.
Even after a month, nothing had moved, so the Wadi Prerika along with the animator accompanied the women and had a discussion with the officials and made them to understand the situation of the children in the village.
Then finally on 20th March 2023, the Nagar Palika agreed to start a Balwadi in the village and the wadi prerika was appointed as the Balwadi teacher. This was a great success for the children, the women, wadi prerika and the Jan Vikas Kendra centre.
