Harnessing Skills for a better future

As a member of the Canossa Jeevan Vikas Kendra (CJVK) Core Committee, Ganga Naga faced significant financial challenges. While in college, she had to support a child and pay for college fees, adding to her already precarious financial situation. Despite these challenges, Ganga’s talent for making Rakhis stood out.

Ganga’s financial struggles overshadowed her talents and hindered her ability to nurture them. However, when she joined CJVK for stitching training and support, the staff recognized her talents and dedication. They provided her with training, support, and a second-hand sewing machine, allowing her to explore her skill in stitching. Ganga also attended various training sessions at the Center for Social Action (CSA) and CJVK, which helped her develop herself, broaden her knowledge, and boost her confidence.

With the support and training she received, Ganga harnessed her skills to create a better future. She started teaching Rakhi making to women at the Dockyard Center, sharing her expertise and nurturing her self-confidence. This initiative brought personal growth and financial rewards. Additionally, Ganga earned Rs. 4,500 by setting up stalls at the Tata Institute of Social Work and the Canosa School campus.

Her participation in various training programs empowered her to live a happier and more fulfilling life. Ganga’s journey is a remarkable success story and bears witness to the potential for change when talent is recognized and nurtured.
