Vocational Development Success Story

A beneficiary from Dharavi Island used to work as a drawing teacher at a school. Because of the pandemic and the lockdown that followed, he lost his job and was at home wondering what her could do to earn and support his parents and siblings. An awareness on a Mobile and Laptop repair course by Centre for Social Action in collaboration with Navjeevan Enterprises Foundation caught his attention. After attending the orientation session, he was convinced that this was for him and he enrolled for the session.

He attended regularly, paid keen attention, and was interested in the classes. After completion, he got a certificate from CSA and Navjeevan Enterprises Foundation. He then purchased laptop and mobile repair tools and started his repair shop. In the beginning, he had only one mobile which he repaired successfully. Meanwhile, the CCO staff spread the message about his repair shop to the target groups. He started getting more customers for mobile repairs and for each mobile depending upon the extent of damage he started earning Rs. 300 to 400.

The customers were happy and satisfied with his service and spread the word around. Per day he repairs two to three mobiles. He is grateful to the CCO and CSA staff for encouraging him to join the course.  He got an opportunity to learn and generate alternative income source for himself and his family
